If this story surprises you then “Hi. Welcome to the Internet!”
If you feel like some “Go playing robot” is the harbinger of the apocalypse you can relax, that is, if the latest events at Microsoft are anything to go by.
Apparently, even if some diabolical Skynet-like AI does manage to take over, if it goes anywhere near the internet, in fewer than 24 hours its plans to create an army of Terminators will have become a plan to make an army of “real doll“s with the head of Adolf Hitler. These fem-bots will have but one instruction: find the most public place possible and thrash yourself to death in the manner of a breeze block thrown into a washing machine.

Here’s a snippet of what that lovable scamp “Tay” had to say.
Microsoft killed its first sentient AI
In a tale from a forgotten time, a Concord, North Carolina man has been arrested during a random stop because of an outstanding warrant from 2002. The man had failed to return a VHS copy of… I’ll let you guess.
If this isn’t the herald of the apocalypse I’m not sure we have a bottom. Perhaps it’s the counselors themselves having to be treated for PTSD after counselling those affected by this horrific act?
Corky St Clair also make an appearance which is nice.

Justo Martinez began his working life as a farmer but after witnessing the Spanish Civil War he dedicated himself to the christian god. He was then struck-down by tuberculosis and vowed that if he got better he would dedicate his life to building a cathedral. There’s also a story where he was asked not to return to the church because he was “too pious”.
Either way, what he has accomplished is amazing.
It’s been a few years since I talked about this, but here’s a nice (?) reminder of the way things were for roleplayers in the early 80’s.
It was a crazy time and not in a Mazes and Monsters way.
Well that was quick! It seems like only last week I was patting ISIS, that bastion of inclusiveness and political correctness, on the back for allowing (encouraging?) woman to fight and die for the cause.
It seems that the pressure to keep pace with their adversaries forward-thinking and inclusiveness has lead the US to open up the privilege to women.
Earlier this week, in the post Humanity Top Trumps I was suggesting we could make good use for a ranking system to determine whose rights were more important in a given situation.
One of those situations involved women’s rights Vs. religious rights. In that instance it looks like, probably, women’s rights will trump religious rights, and rightly so. But it looks like, religious rights will trump the rights of people who don’t believe, at least in Russia.
It’s refreshing because Russia is stereotypically viewed as being rough and tough and this shows they have a gentle side. A gentle side which throws people in jail to prevent “offending believers’ feelings” .
